Unfortunately I need to raise cash, I have decided to sell my canon 5d mkii along with 3 L lenses and 2 or three other lenses. I really don't fancy ebay. Are there any other avenues?

Try the dpreview forums, though largely American you might get lucky.

mpb.com is a pretty good service, but you'll obviously get a lower figure than a private sale. On the flipside, they are great to deal with, pay promptly and the pay the postage. When their courier lost the lens I sold them, there were no quibbles and I got the offer amount immediately.

Do you use Talk Photography forums? If so, their members' classified section is very good.

I've had my best trade in deals with Ffordes, maybe give them a go?

Gumtree has worked well for me - face to face deal for cash and no fees

Your likely to get a better result selling individually.

In NZ there is a good strong facebook group for selling gear, possibly an option for UK?

Good shout, I can't speak highly enough of the MPB service. By the time you factor in ebay and PayPal fees, dodgy buyers, timewasters, postage costs...it's worth taking a slight hit for how simple and stress free it is!

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I am looking for a MKii 5d. My Mrs has screwed my budget for a while otherwise I could be interested.

My dad has bought and sold a lot of camera gear on eBay without problems, just be careful! I have bought a body and a lens as well with no drama. Doesn't seem to attract the dicks that phones laptops and cars do!

Another vote for MPB here. Always seem to offer a price that is what you'd expect from eBay by the time you've took off fees etc.

Highly recommend MPB.

Although it was lower value kit that I sold, the price wasn't far off a private sale and the service is fantastic.

Thanks all, gone with MPB offered fair price and seems straightforward. Just deleted my Flickr account, made it to 2.67 million views in the end. Hopefully I will come back to it when wealthier both monetarily and time wise.

I like to close the door on things. I won't be able to buy new kit for some time so seemed pointless keeping it as will never be updated. Same as my website, bit annoyed as not long paid again for two years hosting. Hopefully I will start from scratch again in the distant future.
