A quiet year personally (most work was client based), but got a few...

I always look forward to this thread, it shows off the amazing quality of the photographers in this little corner of the internet. For me 2016 was a very quiet year photography-wise, mainly due to being increasingly busy at work, but I feel that what I've lost in quantity of trips I've made up for in quality - more of these shots were exactly what I'd aimed for at the first attempt than ever before, which makes me happy.

This first shot was never intended for public viewing really, it was the first test shot I took with a hired Sigma 150-600 Sport, but I love how it came out. No crop and handheld (although braced against a wall) at 1/100th.

August saw a family holiday to Florida (the reason for hiring the big lens). This is my favourite from the trip, taken at Lowry Park Zoo near Tampa, I love the detail in the feathers.

After a busy year for jobs in 2015 this was the only paid work I managed to do this year. Really pleased with how this came out, particularly as it's the first time I've photographed a horse.

One of the advantages of working until late at night is the ability to go home and grab the camera and head out for a sunrise. Although I didn't quite get the sunrise I hoped for I love how this 11 photo panorama came out.

Just over a week after seeing a photo of this place (I can't now remember if it was on here or somewhere else) I'd found where it was and arranged a trip. This photo was exactly what I was after from the day, my wife falling over on the rocks and hurting her back wasn't what she wanted though.

Happy 2017 all.

Really great to see so many great pictures together in one thread, nice clap

Not up to the same level as other posters, but here goes: after having lost intrest in my camera a couple of year ago, 2016 saw me buying a new camera to play with.

It also saw me travelling to Japan for a petrolhead trip, so most of my favourites were taken on that trip... biggrin

We also rented some streetlegal go-karts to zip through the Tokyo traffic on our last evening, dressed as Mario, Luigi, Spiderman and Mr. Incredible: best plan ever, still get the biggest ever smile on my face only by thinking about it biglaugh

I didn't get to do a lot of photography in 2016, mostly down to the little guy in the first two pictures. The other photos posted in this thread make we want to try harder in 2017.

The standard on this forum is incredible.

Some of my favourites from this year (not that they're anywhere near what's already been posted)

^isnt a great photo, but a flock of these just happened to be piling own my street, seemingly at random. Two babies landed on my roof, with Mam swooping around finding food. Not seen them before or since.
