Assuming you mean the small-ish compacts with the telescopic lens, then google Dicapac.
Used one for 5 or 6 years with an old Canon Powershot for snorkelling duties. Little bit of a faff to use, but worked OK once used to it, and it never leaked. Not sure I'd trust it if diving though...
Agree that modern waterproof cameras have come a long way, but that's a much bigger investment and the images/performance may be no better (even allowing for the Dicapac's extra glass in the way...).
