Just sharing my latest work with you guys. Still fresh... We had a very busy weekend. We also set up another camera to capture a timelapse how this was made. I've posted this on YouTube and on my website - http://nt80one.com/yxt

Photo taken with a Canon 5D mk3, 24mm, f10, iso100 and 4.5m carbon rig.
I've got more coming up soon, just need to find a moment to work on them. I hope you like it.

Poorly cloned background paint out of the rig if you don't mind me saying so.

If I were shooting that I'd take a completely clean background pic with the same exposure, camera on the other side of the car, but facing the wall and at the same distance from the wall. Obviously rolling the car again for the same motion blur.

Then I'd composite it back in from the point where the road meets the wall.

What I find a bit odd is the direction of motion against the turn of the car - motion blur looks more or less straight whilst the wheel is at angle - that messes with the mind!

The rig looks good though.

Try to rebuild background like this and you will know how much fun it is. Indeed, if you look really closely, you can notice very gentle difference, but note that you have an advantage because you know exactly where the rig was smile

In regards to blur, direction was not manipulated in any way. That's actually how it came up and I did not have a reason to add fake blur. Although I'm surprised how background came out with irregularities, shadows, light, direction... Does not look like I was expecting it to be.

Silly question; why use a rig and a long exposure? Why not just lower the shutter speed and track the car as it goes by?

A rig can produce more spectacular results if done properly.

Sorry to be negative Malcolm, but you can do a lot better than this. Choose a location which suits the car better, not just an industrial estate smile

I actually do have better rig shots from that day. But that is the only one I did with another camera to capture the video, so I thought, I will start here and slowly work on other photos wink But point taken, I will find different location next time.

I just ordered new lens for rigs, as the one is not the best choice on new body.
Should be with me tomorrow, so maybe I should already plan something for the weekend to test it! biggrin

I really like it! Great to see the video behind how you made it as well.
