I feel the need for speed. However I've had 3 wines and a couple of whiskies so I really don't think it's a very good idea.

Maybe tomorrow...

I feel the need to suggest the OP makes his thread titles more informative.

I'd suggest starting a trial and from that figuring out what you dont need from the range.

If I was in the market for spending money on software and services I'd probably get Lightroom and whatever the latest Photoshop is, likely on a cloud licence or whatever they call it now

CS2 won't make a nice cuppa though....

I still advocate a needs analysis, on a budget lots can be done for free or using last year's model....

I agree

But then you get heaps of people saying YOU MUST SHOOT RAW and then you think 'this is what my photography's been lacking!' end up with this NEF file that yer CS3 cant open so you buy/borrow/download more software to get DNGs working and then complicate your workflow, ending up with something that a passport photo machine could beat.

If you want Photoshop, buy Photoshop

Lightroom in AdobeLand is where you'd start with cataloging and initial editing. When I use it, I make it look at the folder of photos on my hard drive, then I do basic adjustments to the photos I want to edit more.

Likely you can do 90% of what you'd need to in Lightroom. It processes the initial image, you edit it how you want, and you can take it right through to print-ready from there if you want to

Where I then take into Photoshop is if I want to do more to the image, where I might need some layers and make further adjustments to the tone, or specific areas of the photo where Lightroom cant really do what I want it to do.
