Not something I have bothered to do over the years.

It always looked like a full time occupation with the likelihood of treading water at best.

I have just stumbled across this article when looking for something entirely unrelated (as one does ....)

Interesting I thought but am I the only person who did not already know about the methods for successfully monetizing the popular photo sharing sites?

I have no idea on this sort of thing but it doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Interesting article, thanks for posting it.

That is interesting (and depressing!). Funny, I nearly post a pic up a week or so ago from 500px - it wasn't awful just what I would call ordinary (I wouldn't even have bothered posting it if it had been mine) - but it was on the first page! ie allegedly in the top 10 or so photos on all of 500px. Wierd... until you read the above!

Must dash... off to get some bots hehe

Interesting article but nothing I didn't already know really. I've been working on raising my social media presence (particularly insta and fb) for a good solid year now, and I'm constantly getting bots follow/comment etc. Now I just delete the comments and block them immediately. It's much less of a problem than it used to be, in my experience. I'm trying to find clients though, not sponsorship, as attractive as that idea sounds.

I imagine using bots on a site/account you care about could be professionally damaging, I certainly wouldn't want any clients to find out it's all lies. However, should I set up an account like Earthporn, Man Cave or one of the countless others, I imagine they're great.

Good point. Probably not good for real people with real businesses.

No surprise there, some people are obviously using this, I see it from both perspectives.

Personally I dont see the worth in it but numbers do count for a lot to some.
