I think if I had a 6mm, I'd want it to be a f/1.4 too...

This was made in 1946 - and why I like old lenses

What do you dream of?

Always thought it would be neat to have a wide angle long telephoto, something that could be 300mm-500mm whilst getting the width of a 10mm in. It would be good to get a landscape of the other side of a river without having to have the river in - that sort of thing.

I don't even think it would need to be f2.8 but obviously that wouldn't hurt.

^^^ that's such a good call.

However, do I recall a legendary f/0.9 version? Or have I really taken the wrong colour pill today?

I thought the "Lenses You Can Only Dream Of" idea was lenses that didnt exist.

I you dream of a 50L 1.0 you can go on ebay and buy it..?

Canon made an f0.95 50mm but it was for a rangefinder model not SLR

This thread is ambiguous, dream of owning, or dreamt up in your imagination?

....absolutely!

You might dream of something that has yet to be invented or physically impossible, or something like my original post which I would only be able to consider post major lottery win...

....or bank heist....

It's the 6mm f2.8. Used for scientific work mainly I think.

I used to dribble over the photo of it in my Nikon lens catalogue when I was about 12 years old.

There are cheaper ways to photograph your own feet!

I picked up an 8mm Hanimex M42 lens from a friend; it didn't fetch much on eBay though.

Given Mrs Pints' views on me spending money on lenses, I'll just keep dreaming of a 100mm macro lens, if it's all the same to you lot.
