April 2005 Theme Thread ....."SHINE ON..." ......
Discussion
Thanks for the comments all. Considering it was the only image I got that was sharp I think I was pretty lucky, but looking at it now I'm much more pleased with it than I originally was.
However I should confess and say it's a crop and that my original composition wasn't that good. Thank god for PhotoShop!

Lyrics:
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond (I-V)"
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!

Cracking image slinky. It seems to break many of the traditional rules of composition balance - I find it really challenging to look at, which I enjoy.
I would be very tempted to to edit it and apply a slight "watercolour" effect to it to see how it comes out.

I've cropped the image down a little, and given it a 1 degree CW twist..
Tried Watercolour, but it didn't look too good, so tried pallette knife instead..
Then I carried on playing and got this..

The smile shines, even if the clothes don`t.
Favourite pic of my youngest. He is oneof those people who never look "natural" when photographed, but this has caught hime just right.
And yes I know that i shoul crop the arm on the right, but for some reason PS will not work - lack of virtual memory or something.

Here goes - probably not admissible for the game, because I did quite a bit of tinkering, including removing street lamps and moving the moon over a bit
But I wanted to do something like this as soon as the subject went up. My dad and uncle John both went down the pit when they were 14. The one they worked at has been flattened now, but this one is only a few miles away, and worked the same seam. I live too far away to have caught it with perfect light, but I really enjoyed doing it anyway.
