speedy. do i need to be panning more or less. This was taken with a Cannon 200d with standard 55mmm lens, forgot my 200mm one taht day..but still need to get hold of something with abit more range.. cheaply
As a general rule for track stuff a 1/160 shutter works for me, then this can be decreased if the cars are slower and there is still not enough movement.
Some of the best panning shots are taken at 1/30th and 1/60th to give the streaky background. I can't show you as mine are all on slide film. (Remember slide film?)
1/160th to 1/250 should give you a sense of motion eg blurred background and blurred wheels, the slower the shutter speed the harder it is to get the car sharp as well, here are a couple of panned shots
