Did you use a polorising filter to look through the water, or was it just very calm?
Mind you i know you loose 2 stops with the poloriser and these were hand held at a fast exposure? so probably not

No filters, just a bit of flash at an angle. The water was calm, it was in a rock pool.

Underexposed?...I don't think so. There are black blacks and white whites in the first one. It's all too easy to make "in yer face" photos.
