Hi all

Would like to open myself up to the PH fraternity...never do much with photoshop (mainly because I can't!) but would like the opinions of those more experienced than I. What's your thoughts....?

Please, be truly honest!!

Thanks all
Tony

I do like it, did you take the photo? You could also try correcting the verticals of the building so that don't slope so much. I think it is one of those pictures that has to absolutely gigantic and in a poster to really appreciate it!

What is the original like??? Can you post it up so I can have a play?

I feel like it needs a bit more contrast and not as much noise adding. Also the car looks lost, what was your intention as to the focal point?

Thanks
Yeah I took the photo last week on MiniHoon (the building is the hotel for the final night, and the car is Rods').
How would I go about straightening up the verticals?

I understand what you are saying about it needing to be big...on my monitor here I was quite pleased, but now all minimised once on this post it looks somewhat dwarfed, and needs more subject I think!?!

Mrs_Fish...the original.
I was trying to get the car as the focal point being drawfed by the building, but in that above it ends up looking lost
I'm really new to photoshopping so if you have any thoughts on what else I could have done with the picture - it'd be great to hear (or see) your comments
Thanks guys!

Just done the verticals very quickly in Photoshop.

Select All.
Edit -> Transform -> Perspective.
Drag out a top corner until it looks straight.
Edit -> Free Transform.
Drag to top up to stop the Porsche looking squashed.

I straightened the building as per above, but first I cut out and copied the car and put it as a new layer so it wouldn't get changed.

I then went to IMAGE - ADJUST - DESATURATE to make the background b&W and also used the brightness contrast to brighten it up a bit.

Also did that to the car and also artificially lightened it a bit using the dodge tool, but leaving the car in colour.

Thanks Mrs_F! I think what I need to learn is to edit the individual layers a lot more, including brightness etc.
That perspective thing makes a huge differnce though!

I'm going to have another play and then see what that comes up with.

Thanks again guys - very useful

Lisa,
Now turn the car so it's facing into the picture and you're there!

Martin.

PS - only other improvement would be to swap the Porker for a turquoise Noble!

My thought exactly - and I agree with the other comments too. Some sun would have helped depth, but apart from the car pointing the wrong way that's a nice composition.

I like what you've done in Photoshop but have to add another vote for taking the original with the car facing into the picture. The purpose of composing an image like that is to lead your eye into the picture so that you enjoy the whole thing in a natural fashion, at the moment with the car in the bottom corner and facing outwards your eye gets dragged out of the picture without properly looking at the building too - you have to force yourself to look in to it.
