Storage boxes this time. You know, those cheap plastic things to put odd stuff in. So, it'll be a surprise to you all that I actually managed to buy a couple....

...and I could take a nice shot of them with the Sigma 120-300 F2.8 that somehow managed to follow me home, with a 2X tele extender.

Native it's fantastic :-

With the tele converter it's a bit daft. The next shot is a 100% crop @ 600mm handheld taken through a fence. It doesn't look that great but it'd be good to note it's a shot of my mates water tower...and it's just over 1KM from me

Oh and even though it's now dark the EX580 flash (thanks Ex-Biker ) will light things up very nicely thank you. It's very impressive and seems to be even capable of keeping up with the 1DmkII's 8.5 frames per second for a bit.

I await El Jenkin's comments as ever...

Christ on a bike mate, good job I got you over to the pub yesterday, lord knows what you'd have spent otherwise Soon as the plastic fantastic is back I'll need to road test the new gear for you

That'll be cool. I tell you, hand holding the new lense is a good workout. The weight of my camera bag is a bit of a joke now too. I feel some kit thinning coming on...

Don't be silly - you just need a bigger bag

I see you're gearing up for the Rougham airshow Phil... but you can get so close to the planes there you need a wide angle, not a telephoto!!

Gave my 120-300 it's 2nd workout at Thruxton on Saturday. I'm really really impressed with it. Got some shots the pros missed because they had 300mm primes on, and I could zoom out

Also gave the 17-85 and 10-22 ef-s lenses their first outing, also very impressive. Lots of pics to post when I get a free hour or 2.....

It's a really cool lense. It's a bit of a shock after the 100-400IS. That lense seems very compact and light in comparison!

Not impossible to handhold for a while though. And to think I was looking at 400mm F2.8 IS's once. 5.6KG v 2.6KG of the Sigma. I think my limit is 3KG handheld without some serious workouts!

Yeah, it's a real lump. About the limit of what I can handle, even on a monopod. Much sharper than the 100-400 though
