I wish I had a decent camera to havea go at some of the photo threads. My crappy old point and click digital camera only produces horrible blurry pictures.

Can someone do a picture of Eggborough power station. It's a monster that one.

Have a go anyway!
It's not the equipment, it's what you do with it ()
It's technique, not technology.

I'm sure Henri Cartier-Bresson and a pinhole would make better images than me any day of the week.
(If he wasn't dead anyway)

I'm sure he can still do better than me ...

Do it anyway - it's great fun :-)

One day I'll get someone to take a snap of me trying to work out which button to press on my camera; I'm told that the blank look on my face is a work of art all by itself! . I'm completely hopeless, but the feedback from these threads is great for making you think about what you're shooting, and how you frame it.

It's probably cheating, but here's a piccy of the cooling towers at Eggborough. It's not my picture, but I find that acceptable because I live too far away to be able to take one myself.

bilko - you missed out 'look at the manual', and the screwed-up face whilst I'm thinking 'aperture, now that's depth of field, isn't it?', then the bit where I realise the lens cap is still on, then the bit where I think I'm ready to go but realise that I've buggered about for over a minute and the camera's powered down...

And I don't mind you laughing. I can assure you that it's as funny as it sounds. Results are starting to get a bit better though

Looks to me like some sort of extrusion, or swarf maybe?

Edited to add>>

Is it a length of helical gear, ready to be sectioned up?

Hm, not braided. Twisted extrusion. Too shiny (and wrong pattern) for rebar.

Is it fresh extrusion for braiding in to steel rope?

Does it already have the hole through the middle? If it doesn't I should think that putting it there could be a workholding nightmare!!!!

If your face is anything like as nice as your profile photo I'd pay to watch! What a lovely picture!
