Right i might be being a complete numpty but i've just got hold of a copy of PhotoShop CS and I was having a play.

Ok I create a background layer, then used another layer (1) to fill this in blue. I then wanted to add a photo to this (layer 2) but I can't see the photo because layer 1 is in the way.

How do I overcome this? And can anyone recommend some good books!

Not sure i entirely understand the question, but either drag layer 2 "under" layer 1 in the layers pane, or change the opacity of layer 1?

I've probably totally misunderstood this
