I thought this was going turn out a lot better than it did, but it seems like there's something missing. I can't put my finger on it...please help!

Martin.

If you ask me, I think the problem is the car is too close to the colour of the sea.

That means your eyes are drawn to the sand, away from the car. It then loses it's impact.

Not much you can do really, apart from repaint the car a different colour in PShop...

Also the blown highlight is distracting.

The colours seems a bit "samey" if you know what I mean. Quite monotone.

Could you do whatever Trackdemon does to his and make it a bit more "moody"?

Was it taken standing up too? Seems a bit "normal height" i.e. between 5 and 6 feet high... a different angle might have been better... or maybe a pseudo lens-warp or slight fish-eye effect would help?

Failing that, draw some tanks and explosions and stuff - that always improved my drawings at school.

HTH,
Phil

eta; Tried a warm-up filter on it? Never really a fan of lens-flares but one implying a late evening sunset might work?

nicely done....know how on earth do you do that?!
I have PS, but can't work out how you changed the colour of the car without affecting any other pixels??

go into Image>Adjustments>Hue&Saturation (or press cmd/ctrl+U). then press cmd/ctrl+1. then select the colour of the car by clicking on it in the main picture below the popup box. Hold down shift and select both the light and dark bits of the car, and the midtones. Then you can fiddle with the three sliders to get the colour you want. In this picture it also changed the colour of the sea so I used the history brush to put that back to normal. Very easy to do, only took about 90 seconds.

When in doubt...muck about!

Martin.

PS - I can't go back and retake the photo coz the workmen have changed the place and you can't get next to the sea any more.

Errr...forgotten!

Mucked about with filters, cutout and poster edges, and upped the saturation. Beachbuggy posted it once, do a search.

What a great tutorial. Always knew the Esprit would look good in BRG:

Perfect, you wouldn't know that wasn;t the real colour. Apart from the reflection of the sky on the windscreen has gone a bit green too!
