1/15 or 1/30 I can't remember, from hand, tracking shot.. you just have to shoot and hope for the best.. (which ain't easy if you are working with a manually wound 6x7 camera..
50 of those, with a predictable "path" for the car, and I'm sure you'd get that car just as sharp as the mini.
No?

if I were to post a detail of this photo you would see that in fact the nose of the car is totally sharp... the fact that the rest of the car is not sharp is because the shot was taken with a wide angle lens and that does not allow you to keep the car in the same place in the frame trough the shot (as the car was comint towards me in fact..)
as for the mini, I know how I would do that shot.. and that would involve a rig of some sort and some photoshop later... :-)

So it seems to me that whilst it's probably a genuine shot, there has been a little bit of cheating (as per the different amount of motion blur through the window).
Not that I mind - it's a great shot. It's just nice to know that everyone cheats. Evidenced quite well in this months evo magazine.

Countach instead of that Berlingo would be nice . . .
Great advice here btw.
I used to shoot stuff like this on 80s Zandvoort events. I'll scan some stuff to post. Lister Jag blasting by . . .
Anyways - this Paul Harmer guy does some nice shooting does he? One of the reasons to buy Octane . . .

yeah, I wish I had lambo as a customer... :-)
some rigs I use...:
that one has a powerfull flashlight too....
catalogue shots use even more elaborate rigs but those require modifications on the cars, and take lots of time, money and people to do... and are usually done at slow speed
what I use is done with a two or three person crew, and we usually get to do a couple of shots in a day... :-) and we shoot at 20-30 MPH....
