Driving through Highlands vid from bullet cam
Discussion
Due to popular demand (my next door neighbours kid  ) I've knocked together a vid of West Highland footage from bullet cams fixed to the various cars I've had up there.
I've put up a shortened version (size is an issue!) in two resolutions for anyone that may be interested:
6.5 mb - 320 wide - pretty squashed but watchable, here:
http://www.stevecarter.com/Highlands2.wmv
28mb - four times the screen size, much better quality, here:
http://www.stevecarter.com/Highlands3.wmv
probably best to right click - 'save target as'
If you are on dialup - you'll have to be pretty keen to download as I guess the small one will take about an hour to grab  but then you lot are all on mega fast broadband right? ;)

Fantastic scenery and lovely roads. And no traffic!!
In the cramped south we can only dream of roads like that.
I like the low position of the camera. It reminds me of Colin Macrae rally and gives the impression of higher speeds.
I want a bullet cam for the same reason. I really want one before I go to Le Mans to pick up some of the spirit and madness of the weekend.

GetCarter said:5 hours? blimey, what connection is that? I'm on an NTL (which, in the past have been useless) 2mb and it only took 2mins
38 seconds? 9 mins - luxury. It took me over 5 hours to upload last night. (They think ADSL stands for 'A Dozy Southern Lot' up here).
Great video though, makes me want to get out in the nice weather and drive

Awesome! It really does make me sick that one person can be such a good photographer and musician while I struggle miserably at both.
I used to think the roads were great when I lived in the Borders (my place near Langholm to Kielder Water was always a fave), but some of those look incredible - the road along the side of the valley about 1:30 in just looks amazing.

Thanks for the kind words and comments.
Mr Two - you are showing your age (although I played in a band with most of Matt Bianco's musos in the 80's, so it was a good call).
Info as to which car... good idea, I'll have to work out how to do it (I just used windoze movie maker for this vid as Premier scares the pants off me).
Connection here is best described as 'pathetic'. The BT man came out to look at the line recently and actually laughed. Carrier pigeon would probably be quicker.
Car & wind noise would indeed add... but they are a bugger to organise and I'm a lazy git.
BTW - 19 seconds? F*** that's quick.

19s for the big one, got to love an education connection
aaah, I remember the days when I had access to SuperJanet, I could get files from Imperial College quicker than the guy at the next desk could get them from a CD...
Anyway...
If you're taking requests Steve, we'd like to see some more sideways !
You could always overlay a crazy frog tune too....
Steve, that is awesome!
Great driving, great cars, great camera work, great editing, and great music!
I take it none of that stuff is speeded up? Those cars are QUICK! Nice lines too!
That has made my day, will be passing that link on
Edited: hopefully buying a cheap video camera soon, bullet cam will be on the shopping list too... :rubs hands:
