Hi all, sorry to be a pain, I have just got a 2.2Gb Microdrive (yes, one of the cheap ones mentioned in another thread...)

I have managed to get half the piccys off OK, but the rest are still in residence...

I can view them OK on the camera, they list OK on the directory, but won't download to the computer.

I'm using a USB connection through my D70 BTW.

All offers of help gratefully received.

When you say don;t download... what are you using to copy and what error do you get?

I've tried opening the camera as drive g: (my usual way), the files list, but won't copy over to the computer.

I can't open them in Paint Shop Pro or Paint Shop Photo Album either.

Yet I can still view them on the camera OK.

I'm puzzled.

Thanks for the mail Chris, but I've just had another go, and the bloody thing has transferred all the files with no hassle.

I'm using a PC with XP, and I cannot understand what the problem was. Many thanks for the offer of help though.

The shock serves me right for using an untested CF card for my mates stag do go karting pictures... if I'd lost the piccys.

Back to the vino I feel....

Where did you get the card from, and how much? I have just upgraded from 35mm to a Canon 300D and may be after one.

Probably a good idea to learn from this tale and get a decent CF card

Do not under ANY circumstances by one of those 2.2Gb MD's for a Canon camera, you will almost certainly have problems.

Stick with CF cards, unless its a Lexar80x which can also have problems...

I use Crucial CF cards, quite quick and totally reliable.
If you want speed go for Sandisk Ultra2 or Extreme 3, however on a 300D hi-speed cards make no difference to write speeds.
