When you post pictures up on here what size do you generally use. I want to post up some pics for comment and dont want to make them so large it takes ages to load !!!

Cheers Folks...

I usually do 75dpi at approx 30cm wide, saved for web option in photoshop.

any wider than 750px is a waste because it will be scaled down automatically

Yep. Limit your images to that and you'll be fine.

Long pages full of the big images are the preferred choice. Id say post them as big as they come out of the camera and dont dare comress them. That will go down a treat, but only if you put a 56k warning on it! The joy of these forums is in their exclusivity, we dont want anyone without a T1 connection to enjoy the show...

Pixel dimensions are fine but diagonal lines are looking very jagged. Over-compressed ?

Just a test image from my current photobox selection, Its much smaller than i would normally post, quite small in size as compressed for use on another web page....

I would say badly compressed rather than over compressed.

Is that photobucket reducing the size or one of your programs doing it?

The jagged edges are Ted's auto-crunch facility.

Look, it's perfectly easy. Resize to 750 pixels wide max, then compress to about 100Kb. Host somewhere and link.

Sorted

Don't think its that as the original image was only 600 pixels wide.

Orange monstrosity looks fine though !

Right, enough from me for tonight, I'm off to play at the 'vette club meet !

Personally, I prefer a long page of large pictures. I can preview using Ted's compression, and if I see one I really like, I can view a full size image. Then again, not everyone has broadband and a 1200x1600 monitor...

I would prefer large thumbnails I think, imageshack allows you to post thumbnails on a forum that link to the full size pic, but here we use [pic] instead of [img] so it doesn't work.
