Can someone please help me.

My parents are looking for a 15" or 17" LCD to put on the wall of their cottage with a built-in DVD player.

Does anyone have any opinions on:

Model?
Where to get it from?
If it doesn't come with a wall mount, where to get one from?

Joe.

I don't think a wall-mounted LCD TV with a DVD player would look good. The whole point of LCD TV is to be very slim, so you can't put a DVD player underneath as it starts looking daft.

I have, but it was a £26000 one in Harrods....

I think the problem is that people rig them up to a crap source. A good DVD player with good cables would probably look great, but normal TV just looks shite.

I'm thinking about shopping for a plasma or LCD myself, but based on what I've seen don't really see the point.

deristrictor is your man, he runs a high end AV place I believe.

I agree, I have a good quality plasma in my lounge and a cheapo LCD in the kids room high on the wall where they can't touch it.

Unfortunately my parents have limited space and are looking for a small wall-mounted TV. Crappy LCD is better than nothing...

If anything, the speakers are usually cack in these things, and the volume controls are not logarhythmic.

So, I just want to know if anyone has experience of an LCD with built-in DVD and where to get them from cheaply.

I can also reccommed Derestrictor - great service.

I had a choice of a £4k plasma or a £4k LCD - LCD was the better picture at that price IMHO (I watched lots of them side by side with the same source)

Have to agree though that cheap LCDs are pretty naff. Sony do a pretty decent one but it's about £750 IIRC

This would appear to fit the bill nicely:

here

Dvd slots in on the side so would still wall mount nicely. John Lewis as well so you get a nice 5 year guarantee.

Toshiba do a nice one. I've seen the picture and it's pretty good:

Model SD-P7000 in the States. 17" HD widescreen. Right at $1000 US. Don't know what the equivelant model would be in the UK.
