Lister Le Mans ..... in a farmyard

Says on that poster that it is 4" wider to make more room in the rear for passengers. I'd be curious to know how they did this because whilst I can see that the add-on flared arches would make it wider I fail to see how they could create more space other than by running a buzz saw down the middle and adding in a fillet of metal and if they did this they'd need bespoke windscreen and rear glass which it doesn't appear to have. Just curious
You can't really see from the photos above, but the Lister does not have the buttressed and tapered rear end of the original. It has a "fastback" which you can just about see in photo 8. Definitely bespoke rear glass.
As far as I was told by the owner, I don't think any of the original body panels from the XJS were retained.
ETA: You can of course see the redesigned rear on the poster.
Without the original rear window setup (below), I assume the rear seats could be moved further back?

Becuase the wheels are further apart, they 'may' have altered the inner wheelarch design which in an XJS (like many other period cars) intrudes significantly into the rear seat.
Never had a proper look at one though...

Correct. The rear wheel arches came a long way in the cabin. If the tires were widened without the body being widened you might have enough space for one in the back.

Very nice!
I don't suppose your friend has any intention of selling it, does he/she? Please pass on my interest if so. Thanks.
I'll certainly pass that on, although he's quite partial to his car the moment!I don't suppose your friend has any intention of selling it, does he/she? Please pass on my interest if so. Thanks.

I've never really been one for the XJS' but that is absolutely fantastic !!!! You've really captured the car well in those pictures, i especially like the one where it looks as if the pannels are differant colours. Any more pictures to show us all?
Cheers! Looks from the responses like I should go hunting down the big cat again!Edited by CY88 on Friday 25th May 12:21
