Righty ho with much deliberation well about a minute or so, this months topic is......

S T R E E T P H O T O G R A P H Y

I don't think we've had it in the past (Candid was close). I tried to do some street photography for the first time in Hong Kong last month - in fact my winning entry was part of that series, I had no idea what to do other than try and capture everyday life. I ended the day pretty pleased with myself, I hadn't got punched for a start and managed to get some shots I was pleased with (even more so now!).

I reckon its a broad enough topic for everyone to have a go at, whether you have a 2mp camera phone or a full on pro outfit.

I wasn't really sure what to expect with my efforts, so will be interested to see what your take on this is. Good luck

Can you use this topic to post your pictures and general chot cat please. I'll post another topic for the official entries. It would be nice if they were taken this month but I'm not too fussed.

Actually I'm waiting for some slide film to come back to me, took it round borough market in London hip shooting. Love the risk of that, no idea what you are getting till you get it. We'll see Friday!!

stigmundfreud yes exactly, street photgraphy to me is capturing the hussle and bussle of everyday life, possibly with the subjects knowledge or possibly not. Wikipedia defines it as:

Wikipedia said:
Street photography is a type of documentary photography that features subjects in candid situations within public places such as streets, parks, beaches, malls, political conventions, and other settings.
I think that pretty much exactly sums it up. There's more on technique etc on wikipedia here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_photography

I'd be interested to see them as my office (that I'm hardly ever at) is only just round the corner in Southwark yet only walked through Borough Market once and thought it would be a great place for some photos. However, haven't decided to do candid or more obvious shooting.

I'll be interested too for 2 reasons

1.) it was hip shooting so no view finder used
2.) I think I used my 50mm prime
3.) its the first time I had shot film in over a year
4.) it was actually slide film I'd put in my mistake biggrin

Some from Sri Lanka this year, most just snapshots, strictly speaking they are Riverlife, not streetlife

Hi, I've already entered this one for the compo as it's one I'm particularly proud of, I really think it captures the atmosphere of Times Square at night.

Thought I'd post it in here as well as I'd welcome any positive criticism smile
