Hi

I'm just getting into digital photography in a very amateur way, and wonder if anyone can recommend sites/shops for printing, and also either framing or block mounting. Thanks in advance for your help, ladies and gents.

For what it's worth...

I do all my normal printing through photobox and frame it using IKEA "Ribba" frames which are plain and simple and come with a nice mount board already cut. And most importantly they are cheap.

If it's canvas you want you are unlikely to find anyone who comes more highly recommended than Tim ( RoadRunner3 ) who posts on this very forum. I didn't use him for my last canvas but I will use him for the next.

Also http://www.eframe.co.uk/ for ordering custom made frames online - good value, great website, well recommended. Ordered a large black frame and double mount from them recently and am very pleased with it.

Have fun,

Ruari

Don't know what you have available locally but the picture framing guys in St Albans market do a cracking job for not very much money (ie has worked out cheaper than me buying a pre-made frame)if you have custom sizes etc (for general mounts and framing). 1 week service. So, might be worth checking what your local markets offer.

I use photobox - great results, cost effective and speedy delivery.
I also use the IKEA Ribba frames - very good for price.
Have also used eframe and been very happy with the results. Good for more fancy frames than the simple IKEA ones.

I want to go as large as possible, but can't work out what the best size is to go for when trying to match Photobox sizes to the Ribba frames. Can you recommend?

The problem with Ribba frames is that they are at a slightly odd aspect ratio, I've stopped using them for that reason.
