I haven't really done any portrait pics. I focused on the eye but had a lot of difficulty with the exposure and contrast. (Dark brown eye,black/white markings)
C&C very welcome.
PS. I won't be giving up the day-job.
Well, fwiw, I think that one stands up very well indeed as a natural portrait in the context of the thread.Mealla by tenex 100, on Flickr

Hmm. Would it work keeping the sky at the top but cropping somewhat both sides?Really hate trying to follow that /\ Nice work as always!

Studio bits on a budget. Stand - ten quid. Flash - inherited from an old 35mm SLR. Umbrella (reflective/removable back) - twenty quid. Bit of plastic in the middle - fifteen quid. All surprisingly good quality.
Idiot son who wants to blind himself - free.
Lots to learn about portraits and lighting.

Nice portrait!!
Thanks, I'm flattered you think so - your pictures are consistently excellent. I could quite get into portrait work, but perhaps not with a 6 year old and 4 year old. You get about three photos before the lure of any-other-game becomes too much and they're off.Tuna said:

It looked well shot, interesting and natural and thats what drew me to it, I'm bored of the staged bullst I've been shooting recently
I'm a huge fan of the quality of those photos, but yes, they don't have much emotional impact for me. The background could be anywhere, the woman could be anyone and there's no story to be read in the pictures. I'd thoroughly enjoy going on those photoshoots though.PGD5 said:

Random candid before I was crushed alive at the Christmas market. I just loved his eyes on the shot.

Loving this thread and the random photo's thread - some awesome images on both.
Had a quick impromptude photo shoot with my daughters at the weekend when the wife said 'take a nice picture of the girls, I want..... - you've got until 10:45' Which gave me around 40 minutes to hang the duvet above the bed, dig out my big round reflector and try to get something with the bright morning sunlight coming through the bedroom window.
I'm not set up for portraits and normally do candids 'in the field' to be honest but overall I'm happy with the results
The best four of the 100 or so frames shot, I did just click away to try and ensure a decent result.
