I'm not really a portrait person, but here's one.

I don't know how many of you are rugby fans, but yesterday saw the retirement of a player for whom the phrase "top bloke" was invented:

Barry Stewart, one of the nicest guys you could share a jar with.

For me the 1st one is too harshly lit which has resulted in an almost shaddowing around her body, pose is uncomfortable and the white post distracting

2nd reminds me of 80s style, the sun burst is a nice approach but too much

Thanks for the feedback, it's good to get somebody's thoughts about what is wrong with a picture so it can be improved upon for the future. I find friends (and obviously family) on the whole seem scared to criticise, constructively or otherwise.

Thanks, TG.

I had to leave early, but I do know that he came out after getting changed from the game and spent a long time standing and chatting to all the fans who'd waited to see him. That's what I like about rugby players - very, very few egos on display. I spent an hour or so last Tuesday chatting to a current England and Lions international about all sorts of things. A really nice guy and very modest.

Anyway, to avoid derailing the thread, here's another one I picked up on Saturday, Jason White this time:

Nice. I like the grainy, high contrast effect - it suits the subject.
