They are more important to me than anything, Mike. I like to spend all my spare time with them.
You have reached that stage of life where kids take over for a few years. Best get them into whatever your hobbies are ASAP so you can enjoy both aspects. Two boys right?I have 2 girls (adult now) and never could find an excuse to get the train set out of its boxes or though the younger one for some odd reason once expressed a desire for a radio controlled car. Got one, at some expense, but it was entirely wasted. No idea what happened to it in the end.
Once Hi-Fi's gave way to iPods and they realised I was never going to be interested in handbags, shoes and clothes they realised that my aptitude for being a taxi driver at any time of night was probably the best they could realistically expect and made good use of it. They do, however, have an appreciation of cars so I suppose all was not entirely wasted.
Sorry more Dragon Fly snaps this week...

Getting really close to finally getting a proper macro lens and I've got the choices down to the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM and the Tamron 90mm f2.8 SP Di - which judging by all the reviews I've seen seems to have at least as good optics if not better than the Canon. The one thing that concerns me about the Tamron is the fact that it extends as it focuses, is this a genuine problem (in which case the Canon is the one to go for) or am I worrying about nothing?
TIA.
TIA.

I heard the Tamron is good but the extending front element does seem odd. I'd be tempted to play it safe and go for the Canon unless there's a big price difference. 5hero will have talked you into an MPE65 soon enough anyway TIA.
Dogsey, the Tamron, in most tests over the past 2-3 years beat the OEM lenses for quality and price.
With regard to the lens front element moving in/out it is not a problem, you can switch the limiter on to stop full in/out movement if you are auto focussing but as most of us will focus manually then you would, in most cases, put the lens adjustment to full extension and then just rock back and forth to focus on the subject.
I think that it is no different to the way you would focus with Canon or Nikon macro lenses.

First one is a Harvestman spider Mike. I also found one of them a couple of pages back. Scared the crap out of me when I saw it in the wall through the lens! Looked like the alien from Independence Day!
Yes you're right A chap on Flickr (the rather amazing Eddie the Bugman) identified it as Dicranopalpus ramosus which is a variety of Harvestman
Yet more Dragon Flies....though I think I need a camera upgrade to get decent images.
