How successful have people been using extension tubes? I want to muck about with macro, but not to the point where I look at a dedicated lens just yet. I could swap my 100 f/2 for the 100 macro, but f/2 @ 100mm is fun and the reason why I got the thing in the first place!
I'm eyeing up the Polaroid EOS set for about £60 which come with a 13, 21 and 31 set, which I'll probably stack on my 50 1.4. Do they come anywhere close to what I could achieve with say the 60 or 100 Canon macro lenses?
I've had a set of cheap plastic tubes for a while and have finally bought the Polaroid set, should have done it ages ago. Guessing you may have by now though I'm eyeing up the Polaroid EOS set for about £60 which come with a 13, 21 and 31 set, which I'll probably stack on my 50 1.4. This is from my first trip into the garden with them sat behind a 70-200mm f4 with off camera flash.

Would you class these as macro?

Would you recommend that lens? I've never done any macro photography before but I'm thinking of buying this lens.Queen Bee by monzaevo, on Flickr

Edit: Just realised that there are two versions of this lens; The £400 one and the £700 L one. Quite a price difference!

I've just splashed out on the L version but only because I'm a tt
With photography I've always had the thought that its better to get the lens you want in the first place rather than upgrading and spending twice.I've got the Canon 100-400mm and 17-40mm. Both of which are L lenses and are absolutely fantastic. The problem is I have never done macro photography before.
