From my Bathroom Wall, if you knew how scared of spiders I was, you'd understand how hard this was to take, never mind the 7 other shots that were out of focus because I was shaking so much. If that had moved, it was dead meat.

Anyone on here using a Canon 100 2.8L? I'd be interested to see what you can do with it as I'm 95% certain I'll be ordering one next week.

Thanks Rob. MPE at 1x mag then a big crop - gives more dof than working at higher magnification. Got custom diffusers on the MT24ex - they just fit over the top of the StoFen diffuers and the two work well together smile

I used to have one - brilliant lens but found I was using the MPE all the time so sold it due to lack of use. Is it just for macro? If so I would go for the MPE, it is the daddy but only if you are seriously into it as it's a faff to get the hang of and useless for anything else smile

I'm using the non-L and always have. I can't justify the MPE but I use the 100mm for portraiture too - it's great for that.

These are all taken with 100mm f/2.8 macro & relatively cheap Marumi ring flash and/or custom light setup.

Yes I've been using it for about a year. Examples here https://www.flickr.com/photos/ddarno/, though the more recent ones are using extension tubes (about a month) in addition, which gives AF a bit of trouble so you end up doing MF.

Thanks all.

No, it won't be just for macro, recently became a dad, so it'll be used for son pics too.

I'll have a look at the gallery posted, thanks.
