I focussed on the spiky bit for the first shot then moved in 1mm or so for the second. I then "cloned" the spikes onto the shot with the pupa in focus (and the spikes OOF). I don't have any "stacker" software (like Zerene Stacker), and this technique works quite well.

/\ superb detail and clarity on those Bee shots. From the 1st one looks like he has some damage to his left eye.

Superb pics as usual Mike. Some from today below. First is a bit off focus-wise as I had to take it quickly when the spider ran down when this thing hit it's web!
