I just wanted to tell this to people who think bugs are interesting:
Last night I fed Jeffrey the Praying Mantis and went to bed. The thought crossed my mind that if they only live for 18 months to 2 years, he was a little on the small side for a Giant Asian Praying Mantis. Never-the-less, I put the lid on his tank and went to sleep. I got up this morning to see his skin on the floor of the tank but he was no where in sight. Have you ever been looking for something with a mental image that is vastly incorrect? It was only when I stepped back in bemusement that I noticed that one of the leaves I was ignoring WAS Jeffrey. He has grown, and I'm not exaggerating by more than a couple of percent here, by 50% over night. He now has wings and is about the same length as a pen. I'm happy to feed a wasp off my finger but I must confess I'm a bit tentative around this juggernaut at the moment .
