I manned up and I'm so glad I did. He very carefully and tentatively climbed on to my hand. After a while of being a bit jumpy and nervy he started to roam my arm and then sat comfortably on my for about an hour whilst I took pictures. Then, to my surprise, every time I tried to put him back in the tank he jumped on to my arm and ran back up and sat there.
Sorry not strictly a macro!

Probably weighing up the calorific value ....Sorry not strictly a macro!
Nice shot. Taken one handed or did you have a tripod set up and a remote release?

One handed. He wasn't much up for getting off of my arm and I hadn't pre-set anything up. You know it's a big bug when you have to use a 50mm Nice shot. Taken one handed or did you have a tripod set up and a remote release?

Get in a bit closer Rob you big girl !
He's literally on my person, how much closer do you want?! I can't say I'm keen on him having wings though I must say.I'm more comfortable with something this size - 3mm ...

Thanks , I don’t normally go out of my way to take flower pics , but about to put the lens up for sale.A globular springtail (about 1.5mm long). There are lots of these under fallen leaves in my garden at the moment.

Canon MP-E 65mm at full stretch (x5) + 1.4 extender + flash. They're only just visible with the naked eye. Finding with the lens is a nightmare!

I'd never thought of using a tc with the MPE - is that to give more working distance ? Any negative effects ?

It's to increase magnification primarily, for very small "subjects". Not sure of the effect on working distance; doesn't seem to affect image quality noticeably.I'd never thought of using a tc with the MPE - is that to give more working distance ? Any negative effects ?
I've seen reports of people using stacked 1.4x and 2x extenders AND extension tubes to get even more magnification. Will also seriously affect the brightness of the image in the viewfinder. I'm assuming you'd be using "static" subjects for that sort of setup!

Must be next-to-impossible to use at 5x on the MPE though ?!
