As some of you may know, the PH offices are based at Haymarket HQ in Teddington, which is also home to the rather large LAT photographic studio.

The LAT studios are purpose built for car photography, and houses literally all of the kit that pro- photographers need to take any type of car picture. Not only are the studios used for magazines such as Autocar and What Car, they are also used for bespoke shoots for car manufacturers, scoop shots of unreleased cars and all types of racing cars too.

The chief studio photographer Pete asked me if PHers would be interested in bringing their cars along on a Saturday to shoot in the studio. You would need to bring your own camera but Pete would be on hand to give tutorials and offer tips and guidance throughout the day. You will also be able to use the lights and all other studio equipment as you wish, along with some of the lenses that LAT use to get specific shots.

Pete thinks that 4/5 cars would be the maximum on the day, but we would run sessions throughout the year based on demand. A charge will be made, and while we haven't worked out the exact costs yet, I guarantee that it will be very reasonable indeed.

Can I ask if anyone would be interested in this? Obviously we would like to gauge the number of people that are potentially interested before we forge ahead with the plans and make it happen.

Pete is also an experienced motorsport photographer, and we may be able to organise trips to race meets in the future where Pete will offer live tutorials at the circuit biggrin

Sounds good for anyone a bit more local. I'm a bit too far away unfortunately but i'm sure it will be a good learning experience for those that can make it.

True, but hopefully when we get to some motorsports events later in the year, we'll be able to widen the appeal to those outside of the London area.

I'd be interested but I'd probably be after an entire day, rather than quick 1hr burts. I know how to light and to take photos of car but not in a studio! (see profile for webby).

I'd be very interested in having go at shooting in a car studio, but don't have access to a suitable vehicle of my own. Do you think I'd be able to shoot someone else's?

No problem on the car front as at least one of the 5 or so people invited on the day will have a great car, but if not then we can always get one in to use.

If you do join us for the day, then you will shoot for the entire day. Everyone will shoot all of the cars, and will get plenty of time behind the camera.

Sounds interesting, depends on the cost of the day as it might get a bit expensive driving down from manchester.

If it's not too much cake i'd be all over it.

Good idea.

Hi Garlick, I would definately be interested in this...although im not sure if I can fund it just yet (obviously depending on how much it is). It would be good if there are more of these throughout the uyear like you say there might be.
