Nice kingfishers. yet to get a decent shot with my 500mm.
Nothing much wrong with your shots above. A couple of minor pointers, looking at your EXIF, your shutter speed is a bit slow for flight shots, in the case of the Heron I'd use 1/800 sec to freeze the motion and in the case of the Gulls a bit faster again, 1/1000 or 1/1250 sec.I find spot metering works best for birds (especially Gulls) as the white feathers are easy to over expose from a general meter reading.

Lovely shot. If it's on a bird table it's almost certainly a Marsh Tit.

Those Tits are so fast, by the time you raise the camera they've gone! You've obviously glued the bird's feet to that log wink

As I only got my camera a while ago, and really have not taken that many pictures with it, but have gone to a bird sanctuary with it, I have a small amount of pics.

quite easy to take a picture of a bird when its in a big cage really.

this one was not in a cage though.

neither was this one.

but this one was.

Through a double glazed window, but I was pleased to catch him/her after so many failed attempts (they are really timid and very alert to human movement). Clicky to unsquish:

^ Good shot of a Treecreeper there Steve. Not an easy bird to photograph. I sometimes see one in my garden but it always ignores suet or seeds etc which I put out as bird food.

I went to Oz recently over christmas and I have a bit of a thing about photographing the birds - the other half doesn't understand why (me neither tbh?)! However these are my favourite ones from the trip! The parrot was taken by the boy, its quite stunning! smile

Just heard back from the local RSPB Sea Eagle lady. The one with the red tag was born in 2008 in Portree. If poss, could you let me know when you took these are where abouts on Skye... she likes to keep 'tags' on them. Ta.
