The birds they mock me
Discussion
That's a really nice shot of those Crested Grebes. I have been trying to get a pair in that exact shot, but it's like they know I am watching and insist on positioning themselves directly into the light. Hard to get all the feather detail and colours on them.
My favourite shot so far.

Just heard back from the local RSPB Sea Eagle lady. The one with the red tag was born in 2008 in Portree. If poss, could you let me know when you took these are where abouts on Skye... she likes to keep 'tags' on them. Ta.
I'm doing the long drive (600 miles) to Skye next Thursday for a week of wildlife photography, if I get any sea eagles I shall let you know!nellyleelephant said:

Ta. (We have three here in Shieldaig if you need a break from Skye! - only 50 mins north of the bridge - they do tend to stay out over Shieldaig Island though)

Stop telling people about Sheildaig. It'll ruin it! Also, if you need a Pine Marten pic..... we have three in our garden
Oh, and thanks for the recommendation a couple of years ago. We stayed at Kinloch and can't wait to get back there.

Boat driver mentioned that the female was resident and the male was new but their territory was being encroached by a new younger pair that we saw flying nearby.
This was taken on the beach in florida back in December

I finished my 12 hour, 600 mile drive from Skye an hour or so ago....this is the same Sea Eagle as above. After a couple of days of persuading, I was taken out on my own on the boat (Stardust). We were lucky to see 3 birds, the female above, it's new mate and a juvenile interloper!

This was the juvenile male intruder (Steve, it had a blue ring)

Loving the WTE pics - saw a couple of goldies over Findhorn Valley last week, but way too far off for bothering with. Always great to see though.

I was about to say I'd not been out much from the appalling weather, but from these it'd appear that I have! Still not connected with either a short-eared owl or a waxwing this winter. Rather poor after the last few winters.

Not quite at the standard of most of these, but had only got my dslr a little while before going to Northumberland last August.
