Very nice. I've got to go and see the Eagles up there one day.

In the meantime, here's a local bird I met today:

This was at 300yards so its a little soft. I have been trying to get a decent shot of this wild Heron for 3 months - hard work as he will fly off if you get within 200 yards.

That is an absurdly good shot of a tiny fast moving bird. Do you use a better beamer flash extender ?

Thanks. No, I rarely use flash for anything, especially birds. I look for perches in good natural light and set up my camera accordingly, in this case 1/1250 sec at f/5.6 and ISO 320. For small birds like this I like to stay at a shutter speed of at least 1/800 sec, because even if they're perched they're always moving so any slower will likely show motion blur.

Hmm.

500mm + 2x Extender = 1000mm surely?

Or was it a 1.4X extender?

Great capture either way.

Thanks fellas. I had written 2x TC on the notes, that was wrong (now corrected), it was taken with my 500mm + 1.4x TX = 700mm. A heavy combination which I wouldn't want to carry it all day but okay for a few shots.
