New (well old/secondhand) toy arrived this week. First outing down to the riverbank bagged this little chappie. Just wait ’till I polish up on my technique….

Is that the 300 f4 PF or the old AFS one ? Nice shot, lots of feather detail in the full size flikr image.

Not too shabby for a crop, is it? Very promising. The "old one" - much as I would like the E PF, I can't currently justify the cost for the use it will get. This was in another PHer's kit bag not getting a lot of use and a bout of NAS urged me to liberate it....!

Our resident blackbirds are quite laid back about sharing their space with humans.

Crap at choosing secure nest sites though.

+1 - Fab capture!

Ended up with cold porridge this morning trying to capture this pesky little goldfinch:

Nice work Ben ! You must have been really close !

Interesting to compare the differences between your Robin's and the UK's.

Cheers! beer

The wee native birds are pretty tame and friendly once you get away from populated areas, they often follow you through the bush to grab insects from the ground disturbed by your feet. They never stop moving for long though!

Made it worth carrying the extra 1.5kg of lens for 4 hours anyway hehe

I was lucky enough to be given a display by this Marsh Harrier this morning, it was collecting nest material, so fingers crossed I've found a mating pair.

Had a go at shooting a male Goosander earlier - and I declare it to be impossible! I reckon there must be 5 stops between the bright white body and the very dark green head grumpy
