The birds they mock me
Discussion
For the first time, had a go at using fill-flash for a garden bird shot. Worked quite well, but was a bit hit-and-miss technique-wise. Needed to fill shadows on this back-lit shot.

Visited Skomer this week - incredible place. I'm used to photographing fast jets but blimey the puffins are trickier in flight!

Did you just go by yourself? I was thinking of going in a week or two but possibly doing a workshop with the local chap that runs them. https://flic.kr/p/WhYz2B

Went by myself - I'm sure that the photo workshops are good, and no doubt he knows the island like the back of his hand, but you can't go far wrong on your own really. The puffins are so tame and numerous that a trained chimp could take good photos of them - after all, I managed it Puffins in flight is trickier, but it's great fun trying to predict which one will take off - they look at you almost as if they're goading you!
Highly recommended!

One of mine from a few days ago - Heron on the hunt in the water, and I particularly liked the reflection...
Pretty new at this photography game, but learning every day, and loving it !

Some of my recent efforts, nothing exceptional but I'm enjoying learning all the different techniques.
