Treated the missus to a falconry day yesterday. This is my first go at anything like this so go easy!

Sorry chaps, meant to say many thanks for the comments about my photos, always much appreciated. beer

The photos weren't taken through glass, and the feeder was in a country park we were visiting, no not much chance of moving it.

Will try faster settings next time, was vary of bumping the ISO any further but think I'd trade a bit of graininess for a bit more sharpness.

Hell yeah!

Don't think I have posted this, taken to test out my recently purchased 70-300.

No idea what bird it is!

Judging by where you are (please tell me that this wasn't photographed in the wild in the UK!) my guess is that it's a Striated Heron.

Possibly, as suggested above, a striated Heron. Could also be a Lava Heron, a Green Heron or a hybrid of these species which can throw up various colour combinations!

Yeah it was taken just outside Leeds.....

No, it was here in Dubai, on a golf course.

Heron of some sort it is!

It's just a starling, but it posed beautifully.

Nice Woodpecker 2slo.thumbup

Tried to get a Tree-creeper ( Gawd, they are awkward little censoreds )

The best I could do (for now.)

A nearby Dunnock had never heard language like it.

Thanks. Decent shot of a treecreeper and you're right they are awkward birds smile. There's been a couple of times when I've had a long lens on my camera when I've seen a Treecreeper running up trees very close to me (a couple of feet away on one occasion and well inside MFD)I think to get the best chance of shots of them you'd need a fairly short tele zoom with a fast aperture and look for them at twilight. That's when I usually see them anyway.

Here's a few of my first decent shots from me - only just starting to really get my head around what I would call proper composition. I'm not a naturally "arty" person so it's taking me a while to get there! C&C very welcome!

Where did you do it?

I did the same with my missus last week - I'll have to get some shots onto Flickr and up!

I like the quacking duck. And this bird is a Peregrine not a Kestrel. How did you manage to get so close? Lovely detail on the pic, is it a captive bird?

Oops! I'll update that... I'm a rubbish birder! It's cropped, I think the original was at about 200mm of my 55-250mm lens, and yes it was a captive bird.

Thanks for the comments by the way.
