The Water Rail is one of those birds I used to be desperate to see when I looked through the bird books as a kid. Not only did I finally get a good showing of one on Sunday but there were actually two, although they didn't oblige by getting close enough to get them both in shot at once.

Just bought a secondhand Tamron 70-300 Di VC and these are some of my first bird pics from it. Hoping I can get some really decent pictures out of it with a bit of pratice, patience and using my new new bird feeder/hide set-up (though these are from somewhere else):

These are nice, love the Waterrail shot! You must have been pretty close to get that with a 300mm lens! Top work

I am starting to get the craving for some more gear... my lens and camera combo are 5 or 6 years old now... could do with some of this new fangled high ISO shooting! A few from an RSPB reserve today (i always fie off a few at the feeders before i go in, incase i don't really see much. Today was one of those days!
