I need to replace the large water hoses on my S2 as they are all weeping (and tightening the clips doesn’t cure them). I have searched the wealth of information on this forum and FAQs which as always have answered nearly all my queries. (The hose drawing & list on FAQs is particularly invaluable – thank you ) and I have obtained hose No 5 = RH1888 from Griffinparts (£8 inc postage). However I am not clear what I need for the 35mm bottom hose "12A" (pump to pipe). Is this another piece cut from an RH1702?
In which case do I need 2 each RH1702 hoses? one to cut in half for hoses "1" and another one to cut in half for hoses "12A" and "14"? Any advice will be very gratefully received.

Hi Don

IIRC the RH1702 is only required to make the 12a and 14 hoses, the 1 hose from swirl pot to pipe and the other from same pipe to top of the radiator are just short straight bits of 35mm hose.

I cant find pictures of the hoses as bought, sorry

If you have a source of the elusive RH1888 hose I would buy them up and offer them on this forum...

Thanks Kevin, your advice is much appreciated, just the one RH1702 then, that will save me a few pennies.

I got the RH1888 from Griffinparts who say they get them fairly regularly, see email chain below. (I havn't asked for the Vauxhall part No as this is already on the table in FAQs)

Hi Don thanks for the e.mail. We do get them in quite regularly but they sell quite quickly, to be honest I didn't even know they fitted a TVR!! If you want I can look up the Vauxhall part number for you so you and your fellow members can add that to your searches.

Regards

David

Top hose RH1888 received with thanks.
This top hose is for my TVR S2 and, as RH1888 are out of production, they are always in demand on Pistonheads, TVR, S Series, forum. Do you have a regular supply. If so I am sure that my fellow TVR enthusiasts would like to know.

regards

Good info Don... I have added a link to this thread to the FAQ (which appears to have appeared at the top of this forum again too - I didnt expect that but no harm eh...)

anyway, heres a pic of the 14 and 12a hoses in situ, not the clearest but you should be able to see the run and the cut-offs OK. I also noted at SCH that several cars had a kind of pipe hanger from the chassis to the steel pipe between the 12a and 14 hoses, not standard but I guess these were added to unsure the pipe stays in place, out of the way so not a bad idea... no pics of those though...

Thanks Kevin, all is clear. I wish mine was as clean and shiny as yours (maybe after I have a go with the vactan & hammerite in the winter, well we can all dream).

The pipe seems to be held quite firmly in place by the shaped rubber hoses, but a bracket is probably essential if more flexible hoses are used. (I had considered making all 4 pieces out of a 1 metre lenth of 35mm flexible siicon but have decided to stick with rubber.
