TVR S3 Wing Mirror Removal
Discussion
Hi, just bought my first ever TVR, an S3 which needs a bit of tlc in priority order as it has clearly been neglected for some time. The wing mirrors are very loose but I can't fathom out how to remove, then re-install them? Took door card off today, but no signs of easy access.
Does anyone know how they are removed (without breaking them)?
Thanks.

From memory there is a threaded collar screwed into the door, onto this fits the mirror body secured by a grub screw which is accessed by lifting up the plastic trim just under the mirror head. The grub screw is normally between the mirror and door and hard to access but if you can turn the whole assembly round by 180 deg. it is slightly easier. Best of luck and mind the paint !!!!!!

It is a pig to get to.
Welcome you'll find lots of useful info on this forum.
Thanks for the info guys. By 'Loose', I mean I can rotate the whole wing mirror, so finding the grub screw shouldn't be too difficult. I think the previous owner put a small blob of glue to attempt to hold it in place, which I broke as soon as I tinkered with it.
I'll have a look later as it looks like rain all day.
Thanks again

Picture shows the threaded bit which attaches to the mirror and screws into the boss in the door moulding. When you undo the grub screw the mirror will (should) pull off the threaded bit. You might want to disconnect the loom connectors and get someone to turn the cables inside the door moulding to aid turning the mirror. As above, don’t force anything or you might snap the “legs”. When fitted, the plastic collar covers the bit where the grub screw is. A right little bu**er of a job. Ideal for a rainy Sunday afternoon – if you have a garage.
could be worth verifying which mirrors you have.. Bunny ears or the electric ones? If bunny ears I would (I did) replace them with the far superior mx5 mirror.
if you have electric then I would repair as per posts above.
lets see some pics of your car.. Did you update the owners list?
thanks

One mirror was loose, so rotated it and released grub screw.
The other unfortunately is broken (not by me) as described above. Looks like the alloy legs have been sheared.
Assuming I can unscrew the whole mirror from the door, will I be able to replace the alloy legs, or does this mean I need a complete new wing mirror?
I presume a scrap yard is my best bet?
Thanks

You can get the bit with the legs seperately. See below:

Edited to say, this is for the chimeara, but they have the same mirrors. I'd check your broken one looks the same as the one in the picture or ring them to check before ordering.
