Met a guy at SCH who said it had made a difference, makes sense, 5mm of ally is going to be better than pressed steel.
Can't tell on mine yet as one of the manifolds is blowing like the bugle of the apocalypse.

Same here on the manifold front! I did hear that the old Granada cast alloy ones quieten down the valvetrain a bit, and are therefore sought after. I'm not after Ford OE bits, so these could be worthwhile at half the price of what the Granny ones normally go for.

Something else to save up for! chassis refurb, balljoints, bushes, engine rebuild, cam........I could do with bunging an additional £150 on to that!

£110 first set then £122, seems to be about the "going rate" wink

I think Phillpot's alloy rocker covers in crackle black finish with polished reliefs are the nicest I've seen cool
Just my opinion.

Yes, agree with Glen, the crackle finish and detail on Phillpots does look pretty classy, smilealthough I have not seen 'in the flesh' yet. I will have to stick with my chromed steel ones even if some view them as a bit bling!cool
However a lot depends on what YOU want to achieve; do you want them complementary to the engine colour, to the car colour or as a contrast to one or both? confusedheadache

I actually bought some of that paint in preperation for doing just that laugh

Also bought some red crackle stuff too, but not sure if that'll look cheesey or not.

As the engine in mine is red I think the red crackle would look really good.

No, crackle yellow might look cheesy wink
Crackle red would look good if it complements the body colour or if you've got other red stuff under the bonnet.

Mind you, although I'm a newcomer to this taste arbitration scene, I would definitely avoid floral themes, pansies included.

You can't mix S's & Laura Ashley, it just wouldn't look right IMHO.

So, I'd better stop my search for Chintzy carbon fibre wrap or the S style police will get me?

Someone was talking about car names recently. How about bright red plenum, light green rocker covers, dark green block and brown sump....then call the car Flora? (Of course that could be Pansy if you have electric window winders hehe) Maybe time for me to follow Glen out for a drinkgetmecoat

Carbon is so "last year" (and the S Police are "pussy cats" compared to the Classic Cops)!

There are far better options these days biggrin

Hey Phillpot, I like the snakeskin one. Someone could use that and call their car Fauna? No? OK then, I agree, time to call it a day!
