Indeed, Mr King Fisher, even when I am able to help you I don't bother now, because you ask for advice and then refuse to believe it when someone with the relevant knowledge tries to inform you!
Which is exactly what happened when I (and others) gave him advice regarding the law and such like like.

Mike,
At least you're not a non p/h troll infestation like the rest of us.
I'm wondering why Chris's S sold so quickly, & Nick's hasn't?
confused

He's had interest from a few different parties, one of his old college tutors fancied it, but was sadly told he wasn't allowed the car by his Mrs, and another of his friends (TomTVR) was interested, but again financial constraints meant it was a no go. Does anybody think the car is overpriced, or is it a fair price considering the work done? It was valued at £6500 by a TVR garage when he had to renew the agreed value of the car after his rebuild!

Sell it to the TVR Garage quick, before they change their minds!

Like anything else, it’s worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. Put it on Ebay with a reserve of say £3,000 and you’ll find out what that "worth" figure is. “Value” is a completely different thing.

Kingfisher, I agree with Joe implicitly that it is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay. That will always be the correct selling price for any commodity.
I wish you & Nick the best of luck in your quest to find that someone.

Coming back with my helpful hat on... You have certainly made the car more attractive now that it is a drive away proposition. The main thing I think is missing from the advert is any comment on the cosmetic condition of the car. The paint looks OK in the photos, but maybe you should comment on that in the text. There is no clue provided on the colour or condition of the interior.

Done! The interior is actually in fantastic condition, I wouldn't have said it looks 23 years old. Like all these things, it may have been replaced at some point in the cars life, you never know!

Much better ad (imho)thumbup But I'd still put 6 months tax on it. When it comes to the "haggling" stage straight away I'd be looking for £200 off coz no tax !

These cars look good, sound good, but it's the blast round the block that sells 'em.

now just the spelling mistake to sort wink

The ad clearly reflects a lot of hard work has been done and that is certainly a credit to those involved.

I hope the asking price (or near) is reached as that would be a good thing for everyone. I think it is an especially hard period to judge what something fetch (others' comments about value and cost say it all) but it would be nice if it were sold at a good price in order to reflect the effort involvedsmile

Once he's sorted the insurance out he's going to tax it (criminal offence now to have a car taxed with no insurance). I reckon he may take it for a little drive too to see its old owner whom he bought it from 3 years ago. His last words to Nick were 'look after it lad'. I hope he did him proud!

This is the least nastiest lot on PH. Lots of good advice, given freely.

Fair observations, that that advice is not always taken on board.

But - nice car, better ad now, hope it sells.

Yes, the same nasty lot that when a fellow S owner tragically died recently sprang into action to help his widow sell the car and sort out a garage full of parts, spares and tools.

It may well be a lovely car but it was a dreadful advert, "car will have to be trailered away" is something you associate with a barn find not a top of the price range car (imho), and how was any prospective owner to know its a lovely car if they couldn't get a test drive?

Everyone likes a bit of tax 'n test on a car when they buy one, hundred quids worth of tax relative to five and half grand is a no brainer! (again imho)

Fortunately ALL in YOUR humble opinion.

Not all prospective purchasers have to be spoon-fed and have their hands held...probably a good thing too when contemplating buying a TVR.

In my humble opinion as well...

The aim is to sell the car, right? So what's the point in wording the advert so that it MIGHT appeal to a FEW, when with a tiny bit more effort, it WILL appeal to a LOT MORE?

Nobody said "your car's overpriced" or "it's not good enough" - you can see how good the car is, it's probably worth the money, why spoil the ship for a ha'porth?
