Mine arrived in the post today and has been duly fitted - real quality item and feels fab in the hand thumbup

A couple of Q's - mine doesn't sit quite straight: if I loosen it a turn it is loose, but I don't want to tighten it up too much and risk breaking something in the gearbox! I suppose I could use mole grips on the stick but I don't want to force it... Also, it sits a little higher up on the stick than the aftermarket polished knob (ooer) that was there before. I can't remember where the old Sierra item sat. Is that pretty normal?

I had to clean up the thread on my gear stick to get the new knob to fit. Had to use mole grips and a fair bit of umph so you'll be fine if it only needs a bit of a tweak.

I'm sure mine sits lower than the Momo ball I had previously but the height of the new knob is less so you can see a bit more of the gear stick.

It has improved my driving enjoyment massively, probably the best mod I've done which seems daft for such a simple change. Didn't help that the old one keep coming loose! Had a fantastic drive on Saturday but I'm trying not to mention it as others on here were busy painting chassis wink

I have the same thing if you mean the gate diagram doesn't sit correctly - mine is actually a half turn out (fully updisde down).

I was simply going to drop a couple of washers under the new knob(or required quantity) to get over this.

Hi all.

Firstly I am pleased they are all turning up and you like the look of them. ( I like the best upgrade comment!!)

It is impossible to get the threads bang on so the gate would line up once the knob was fully wound on. In my email I mentioned you might want to wind it back a bit, wrap some insulation tape round the threads and wind it back down so tight.

One other option which one of you have done is to get an M10 x 1.5mm stainless half nut (like a normal nut but half as deep) to go on the shaft first so you can lock the knob in position.

Hope this helps and please let me know if I can be of any more assistance as I want you all to be happy.

Cheers. Lee.

Hi Lee,I dont seem to be able to get the new knob to go down very far, it only goes about 10-12mm onto the stick, I tightened the half nut right to the bottom of the thread on the stick a few times to see if that would ease things but dosent seemed to have made any difference, any ideas?

I will shortly be running one of these on mine..

I had to clean up the thread on my gear stick using a die and quite a bit of GBH - does the half nut run down smoothly?

Hi, No not really there was a fair bit of spannering involved!smash

Then I'd suggest you need to run a die down the threads. I did it with a cheapo set but it did take some umph and mole grips on the shaft to stop it spinning.

Saves a trip to the gym!
