Well, having nothing better to do on this grey day, and having no clue as to the geography of Meiringen, I thought I'd Google it.....
I was amazed to find that there is a Sherlock Holmes Hotel, and a even a museum dedicated to the famous fictional sleuth.

So it seems Joe was bang on the money with his pipes & fake 'taches & deerstalker hats for the GTS regalia. Hmmm.

Ahh, the sights & the sounds & the smells of the S Club tour come flooding back.

And this time there may be a nice view of the Alps through the window of the room to compensate.

Ditto for me this year I am afraid. I promised my wife and kids that this year's family holiday money would not be spent on me going away on my own in the TVR...but next year we will see...

The only alternative this year is if I find a shed load of cash behind the sofa, or I tag along, sleep in my car, take a load of packed lunches and piss neat fuel into the tank

PS, Tom seeing your quote reminded me: I have just spent this morning under my car changing the starter motor that last played up on the Spa trip (remember)...hey ho.


I intend to make up for it this year up by working on my wife's guilt and doing everything else I can in the Tiv...Have a great time guys (hope you find someone to do the write up).

One final point for today... if anyone is reading this and thinking about bringing their wife or girlfriend but is put off by the current number of blokes in twin rooms, please don't be. There have been plenty of other halves come along in previous years and they must've enjoyed it because some have even been on more than one trip
