I'm tired of reading the other thread re GT3, lets get going on a 991 RS one.

Kicking off, when will it launch, how good will it be and how different to the 991 GT3. And cost ?

PS. this thread unlike the other one is not really for discussion about whether you want your cup holders in carbon etc !

Glenn , to answer your question, I'm open minded. I expect it will be good, very good, but am worried that Porsche will produce it in larger number than heretofore. Having PDK would not be an issue for me if the rest of the car was ok. Also, if Porsche pulls the piss with the pricing I'd vote no.

I think Porsche will load the pricing on the GT3RS. I bet they feel they could have got more for the GT3 now, but I reckon they will load that up too on the next generation....

Keep trying to persuade myself that the vanilla GT3 will be sufficient, but I did that last t.ime and ended up with the RS in the end.
Will be really interesting to see how they differentiate it from the vanilla, will it be a proper stripped out version?? I do suspect however that it will attract a heavy premium over the standard GT3, although the way half of these guys are specifying extras it may not be that far away as a standard car.

Can't wait to see .

I'm expecting only subtle extras. Most notably wide body, more downforce and possibly a 40kg weight saving. I'd imagine the engine and gearbox will be identical.

Echo the sentiment....am increasingly inclined to roll to the RS...

Doesn't hurt that the 7.2 GT3 RS...is just....well you know.

If the 991 GT3 has a published 475bhp but in practice closer the 490bhp, I can't see the RS having less than a published 500bhp figure.

Assume there will be a 50kg weight saving as well to justify a base price of (guess) £130k?

I am surprised that more information or rumors are not flying around about the RS yet.
Apart from the turbo body and PDK box, I haven't heard anything apart from speculation.

Let's start some gossip.....

515 BHP, -30Kg over GT3, ring time 7.22

Come on someone must be able to make some good stuff up!

I've heard as standard :

Titanium Exhaust
Titanium rear roll cage, unpainted to save more weight
Lightweight Battery
Lightweight bonnet sticker
Lightweight CF wing mirrors

Too expensive for very small saving apparently, outside chance I think but would be nice

It would be good if the speculation is right about it being more extreme because the standard GT3 is actually a good all rounder.

The GT3 is open to more of a market, so make this for the hardcore.

I have it on good authority that this is the case.

Production numbers of the RS will be the key. Its Ok outlaying more money upfront if it retains is value through scarcity.

As a weight saving exercise they have introduced an invisible engine and they will deliver it direct to your garage so you never need to drive it to retain its value - all for £130k, you know it makes sense and less is more.
Call me a skeptical young git but Less spec more profit that is !
