Hello My name is Neil and I am a first timer.I have a 1991 S3 which at the present moment is having the wishbones and chassis painted, along with the anti roll bar, my question is, where can I buy a pair of drop links either standard or otherwise. Neil

I'd try asking one of the specialists who favour the older TVRs ML Performance, Exactly TVR or david Gerald.

Or, if you're feeling handy search TVR S Series drop link and you'll see some have made their own using a couple of spherical joints from somewhere like Mc Gill Motorsports.

The "Steve Heath" drop links refered to in many old posts are, I believe, no longer available.

Shaun's as in the picture above are hand made, he may be able to help you or David Geralds were offering replacements more like original (but improved design). They may still have them or they could have gone with all their other TVR parts to TVR-Parts

ML Performance have them if you want something more original looking, pricey though.

Did you have to chamfer the face of the bush to get them on? I don't have enough distance to the taper on the ARB to get the pins in.

still Struggling despite having the ARB off. Was there a technique to compressing them far enough?

(Maybe you could just send your assistant to the North East to help?..)

I've done three sets unassisted confused Holes are probably drilled in different places though hehe

Poly's much more forgiving when warmed up. Don't go mad, but just warm it with a hairdryer and use some copper slip. They work really well once they're on!

Sorry I missed this.

One man places ARB between legs, knelt on the floor whilst putting all available might into pulling the drop link into position, other man has split pin and pliers ready to insert when the hole becomes visible.

Oh, and make sure you have them the right way round so you don't have to do it all again rolleyes

Lawrie,
I just read this and had a vision of your red-faced force applier using all of his super-powers to compress that bush enough to expose the split pin hole enough for you to casually slip it in. wink

I think the roles should be switched to even things up a bit. biggrin

You could also try putting them in boiling water for a few minutes. The dimensions of the bush will increase by approx. +1,5% when heated to 70-80 degC.

Just got a set of these and didn't take enough notice when I took the old links off. Is there a washer on both sides of the bush?

If it's just on the outer, as shown, I can get the pin in. With a washer on both sides there's a real problem compressing it enough, even after softening in boiling water.

I just use a washer on the outside. The bush doesn't deform enough to slide up the taper on the bar (nor should it want to, as it's not being encouraged to).
