TVR S1 seat swaps - what fits?

It isn't too difficult to make new foam seat and squab centre pads from scratch. You don't need special tools, just a bit of ingenuity and patience...



The side foams are a bit more difficult, but not impossible...

These were for a Tasmin but the structure is pretty much the same as the 'S' seat...

The difficulty is never something that stop me. First of all, side driver foam is completely destroyed and need a full replacement. It has been disintegrated by the friction with the frame and converted to dust. But I could find a foam bloc to cut a new foam in it.... It's not really a problem. After that, I could rebuild a diaphragm with steel wire and rope, needs time but cheap. But I would always have bad looking covers. I could buy 2 leather tint kit (2 colours) to refurbish the cover.... but seat piping will be always damaged and the genuine split leather (not top-grain) will always keep it's stiffness and bad looking. So for approximately £100-£150 and a lot of time, I could have something acceptable.

So I thought about changing all the cover and build a new one with new top grain leather. The problem is to find a seamstress who have a machine, big enough to be able to sew the leather. And a complete leather skin cost 250€. I don't want to use imitation leather. The total cost could be £500.

So after a long time balancing the pros and cons, I chose to modify good leather seats to adapt them to the S. Sure it's not the more original solution, but I have a lot of other repairs to fix and I can't spend all the winter time to refurbish the seats.

Hi Guys, Another new to TVR S series owner for the first time! Been reading the forums and thanks for all the pointers. Based in Belfast so less of a support network than most but enjoying ownership and first question, on a 1990 S3 using the 2.9 V6, getting a little bit of "shunting" on very low throttle openings eg in traffic but great as soon as you open the throttle. Changed the throttle pot as several points indicated this as prime suspect but no better or very little improvement, where to next? Any advice appreciated

Take a look at the ISCV - idle speed control valve - and give it a thorough clean.
Also check for leaks in vacuum hoses.
