TVR S1 seat swaps - what fits?
Discussion
Here's an option I'll bet no one's considered....
The runners are a bit wider than the standard seats but the flat floor in the 'S' should make this afairly straight forward conversion. A lot more tricky in the Tasmin though!
Recognise them? Merc SLK. Don't be alarmed, I'm sure they come in other colours! and cheap in fabric.

Those Chim seats look really good, I read that they are a straight fit, are they thicker/bigger though?
Colour match is probably an issue.
The Chim seats are similar in size, one difference is that on the front of the Chim seats, there is a steel spacer on the front of the rail, in the Chim it raises the front of the seat. In the S this felt strange, so I took them off. It might have something to do with being a bit short Colour match is probably an issue.
Ah right i see, I think I can rule them out in Spain.
Must say though they do look very nice and extremely comfortable.
Think I will atart down the MX5 route,
Just cannot bring myself to recover the originals, they are in very good condition but in leather they are a nightmare here in the sun.

Us poor folks here in Good ole Blighty have no comprehension of your problems. Surely a bit of sun on leather seats takes the chill off rather nicely?? Just cannot bring myself to recover the originals, they are in very good condition but in leather they are a nightmare here in the sun.
I'm struggling to get the SLK seats to sit low enough in the Tasmin because of the design of the floor (it has raised "ribs" which the seat runners bolt to. They should fit the flat floor of an 'S' well enough though so if anyone fancy's trying them get in touch. I'd be happy to swap them for a pair of decent fabric MX5 seats.
I'm not sure this is a super helpful suggestion, as these seats aren't exactly common.
However, I'm currently fitting Suzuki Cappuccino seats to my S3. The mounting widths are exactly the same as the normal TVR seats which is good. However, to get it low enough I have removed the runners and hard-mounted it using the original seat holes.
I haven't driven it yet apart from just around the block as I need to get my mounts welded up and painted, but so far I am very pleased with them. Much more comfortable than my old seats and even in black look quite good I think:
Though if I like them after a few months I intend to get them trimmed in cream to match the rest of the interior.
