Has anyone had these repaired or done the repair on their S? I'm not too phased about doing it just looking for tips...

If they're like that what are the outriggers, seat belt mounts etc. like?

Body off time !!!!!

Bit more good news..... the big pivot bolts have a habit of seizing in the bushes.

Cheers Mike.. Easy to weld these on with the body off no doubt..
Rest of the chassis is not too bad, the outriggers have been done in the past. They were cut off, replaced/repaired and then re-welded with sleeves over the joints.
Want to get it mobile this year then possibly body off next. Might have to bite the bullet and take of the tub though, only way to do it properly. Eurotour is looming fast though!!

Looks like you've got some decent "facilities" there!

Think the problem is to resist "just doing this, and this etc. while body is off.

Lift - weld - paint - drop done in a week, then all bolts nice and free ready to do more thorough job when time permits smile

And I was getting worried that I would not have time to do all the jobs I wanted to do before the Eurotour. Top work that man ;thumbup:

You're right Mike. I'm just looking over other S owners body off posts, I'm sure it's not too difficult..
I'm lucky, I've got a ramp, welding gear, tools, etc. It's a dilemma but I think I've got the time. I'd booked her in for a complete re-trim during the first week of April with Mike the trimmer. Might put that back until May now, I'll be phoning him tomorrow to see if he has a slot then.

Yep. I've got the gear, not sure about the idea though!!
You're welcome to use them anytime Glen. The dust had been brushed everything after my hibernation and ready to go.. Think I'm going to need a few handy hints in the next month or two. Replacement bushes all round to start with..

One of the chassis restorers possibly RT Racing has the brackets made - they may be prepared to sell you some.

Personally this looks a good option to me

In case you've missed it, ShaunS3c has already said in his reply on here that he may have some spare laser-cut brackets available.

Hi Shaun,

If you've got any brackets spare I'd be happy to take them off your hands. Happy to square up accordingly..

Oh for a man cave that size. Had th put up with a single garage with a chain hoist from the rafters for my body off restoration! Bet you glad you lifted it now seeing the other tin worm evidence. 2wks will be a hard graft to get it back together as it'll be too tempting to do "just that bot, and that, and....."

Thumbs up

Cheers guys. Yep, took me a long time to get all the gear together and the barn is 'adequately' sized.. Still managing to fill it with stuff though. I know it makes life so much easier with all the lifting equipment and space. I did the same job to a TR6 about 25 years ago but in a single garage with only a single concrete drive out front. I remember lying under the car in my garage in the depths of winter breaking off all the bolts and re-drilling, etc. Now, if a bolt is tight I've got the gas welding gear and just warm them up a bit. Just wish I had more time to work on the cars as I really enjoy it. Being self employed helps earn the money but time is nearly all taken up..
